One Month Down

It seems crazy, but Leon is one month old now! He still hasn't had his one month doctor's visit, but Lucia weighed him in at 10lbs (4.55kg), which is a 50% weight gain since he left the hospital! I can't remember really well, but this seems like a lot more weight than Dari gained. Leon definitely seems like a fatter baby when you hold him :-). Here is the obligatory Richard Scarry book size photo, and Leon isn't take it super well (Dari had a very similar fussy picture for his very first Richard Scarry photo if you scroll down to the bottom of the page at this link - http://babydarian.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html):

Like Dari, Leon also has reflux, but Lucia has researched lots of methods to avoid medication. She basically went full hippy on this one, though I suppose I agree with it given the importance of the baby's stomach acid function. Lucia is given him smaller and more frequent meals, we're trying to position him upright most often, and she is carrying him around in a moby wrap, which he seems to really enjoy and also allows mommy to chase Dari around, make cookies, and even walk to the store:

Leon made his first smile at 3.5 weeks but now does it fairly regularly. Apparently he was very happy when Dari put a little pick-up truck made of play-doh on his forehead. Hmmm... hopefully he will deal with future older brother tormenting this well! Lucia also got the materials ready for Leon's passport, as he is planning to visit Slovakia in a month and a half. The photos came out pretty well! He looked right at the camera when mommy was taking pictures so they were done very quickly. Can you tell which one will be used for the passport?

Lucia also updated the look-alike pictures using my original baby outfit from 32 years ago. I swear it looks like this outfit just gets more and more vibrant every year... or are the cameras and lighting merely getting better and better? You be the judge. Thanks Tide Cold Water Detergent! I still can't tell the similarities between either of the kids and me, but I do see similarities with each other. The second set of pictures is Leon compared to Lucia as a baby. That one I can see a lot more similarity!

Leon is still very alert and curious like he was when we left the hospital. His eyes are always open and looking around, like he's expecting something interesting to happen (not in this house, kid!). He also seems to be handling bath time a little better than Dari was at the same age. So, all in all, it's been a pretty good first month! Here are some additional Leon pictures:
