So, the milestones are piling on and the blog posts are not. Baby Leon has been very very busy. He practiced his crawling moves very hard in Kentucky but apparently he thought that the most appropriate day to take off was New Years Day. And, so as not to step into the new year with the wrong foot, he started pushing off with both, sort of. He's since perfected his unconventional crawling moves and his current style is what I would call the on-your-marks, get-set, go! approach because he always has one knee down and one up, semi-stepping and semi-crawling. You can sort of tell from the pictures below.
He is also pulling up, although he still prefers to observe the world kneeling, unless he can get a really good grip and not fall back. Of course, he is using this new skill to expand the range of surfaces he can sink his teeth into, which we have to be careful about and Dari has been the biggest helper in keeping Leon out of trouble.
Having the whole world to gnaw on is not enough for Leon, though. He is still a little puzzled by the recent appearance of his top teeth and seems to think that the most obvious way to use them is to grind them against the bottom two. Very audibly. Persistently. Aaaahh! Fortunately the most reliable way to get him to stop is to make him smile, and in his case, that is a task very easily accomplished :).
These two pictures were taken by Ashby Green during Leon's greenhouse photo session in Kentucky :). She's GREAT!
